High Tea Society flew north for the winter to sample what Brisbane has on offer for high tea.
The Emporium is a luxury boutique hotel located in Fortitude Valley. High Tea is served in the cocktail bar, with a simple but elegant menu – with loads of atmosphere.
Our favourite item was the Espresso Cup, a Lindt dark chocolate cup with a creamy espresso filling. Warm scones came out later in the sitting with tea. The tea offered was a selection of Twinings tea bags.

Emporium Brisbane High Tea Menu
- High Tea Sandwiches: cucumber, smoked salmon & rocket, beef & mustard
- Petit fours: lemon tart, chocolate coffee cup, macarons
- Plain scones served with organic strawberry conserve & cream
- Twinings tea bag range
- Hendricks cocktails
The Emporium is styled with an eclectic collection of locally made, custom-designed pieces and antiques sourced from around the world. The bar is decorated with large red velvet chairs, chandeliers and white orchids.
The teaware is simple white fine bone china, the cake stand was decorated with ribbon. The welcome gin cocktails are served in custom made traditional ‘tea cup’ martini glasses.
This is a high tea venue to dress up for – you could not be over dressed at the Emporium.
The Emporium high tea is fun and stylish – ideal for groups and special occasions. This high tea is more about the venue, although the menu is simple with some lovely finishing touches. Look out for the Emporium’s special Mothers Day and Melbourne Cup high tea events.
