Experience a luxe and contemporary afternoon tea at Warren Street Hotel, New York, where elegance meets modern sophistication in the heart of TriBeCa.

If you’re seeking a luxurious and contemporary Afternoon Tea experience in New York City, look no further visiting the newest addition to Firmdale Hotels’ collection, the Warren Street Hotel. Located in the vibrant neighbourhood of TriBeCa, this boutique hotel offers an exquisite Afternoon Tea that blends traditional elegance with a modern twist.

Warren Street Hotel, the latest gem in Firmdale Hotels’ portfolio, is a privately owned by Tim and Kit Kemp, renowned for their distinctive interior design and exquisite art collection. Situated in the trendy TriBeCa district, the hotel boasts 69 rooms and suites, exclusive Drawing Room, light filled Orangery and the Warren Street Bar & Restaurant, where the Afternoon Tea is served.

The restaurant is a vibrant tapestry of colour, patterns and textures, a signature of Kit Kemp’s design style. As you enter, a long bar adorned with oversized artwork by celebrated artists catches your eye. We were seated near the Orangery, a beautifully curated space perfect for an Afternoon Tea experience.

Our table was elegantly set with white linen tablecloths, and the crockery features the whimsical designs from Kit Kemp’s Tall Trees collection. The three-tiered high tea stand arrived laden with a delightful array of treats.

The selection of finger sandwiches was a perfect start. The smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich was exceptionally fresh and light, while the coronation chicken sandwich was a standout, bursting with flavour. The staff, noticing our enjoyment, kindly offered additional servings of our favourites, a gesture we appreciated but which left us struggling to save room for the subsequent tiers!

The scones were perfectly baked, with a satisfyingly crunchy exterior and a soft, warm interior. They were served with generous portions of clotted cream and homemade preserves. Although tempted to indulge further, we maintained a polite ratio of cream to jam, confident the attentive staff would have provided more if requested.

Save room for the sweet selection, highlights included a petite chocolate and passionfruit cookie and a delicate strawberry profiterole. However, the Chocolate Opera Cake stole the show, with its rich, moist layers and elegant gold leaf decoration.

Given the additional sandwiches filled us up, the amiable staff provided a doggie bag in a stylish Firmdale Hotels carry bag for the treats we couldn’t finish.

The specialty tea selection was extensive, featuring traditional choices like English Breakfast and Earl Grey, alongside more exotic varieties such as White Peony Bai Mudan, Lemon Verbena and Rooibos – a South African red bush infusion with rich notes of vanilla, honey and spice.

For an added touch of luxury, guests can upgrade their Afternoon Tea with a glass of Veuve Clicquot Rosé Champagne or a refreshing non-alcoholic spritz.

The vibrant and joyful interiors of Warren Street Bar & Restaurant create a convivial atmosphere that is both inviting and uplifting. Favoured by both locals and visitors, this boutique hotel is a must-visit for anyone seeking a unique and memorable Afternoon Tea experience in New York City.
