A haven from the shopping chaos of the CBD, High Tea Society had the pleasure of experiencing Swissotel Sydney’s weekend afternoon offering of an indulgent high tea buffet.

Taking pride of place in the middle of the lobby, the weekend afternoon tea buffet is indeed an overflowing and colourful sight with Executive Chef Justin Zammit and his team delighting guests with new treats weekly.

The light and airy space is filled with the relaxing sounds of a pianist whilst you discover the long table of savouries, sweets and desserts awaiting your afternoon pleasure. From pinwheel sandwiches to freshly baked scones, crème brulee to petit cakes there is something here for every high tea connoisseur but it is the Lindt chocolate fountain in both milk and white chocolate that has pride of place. A large selection of T2 teas is made available and guests may also opt to enjoy their high tea with a flute of Moet & Chandon champagne.

With a buffet so enticing it is hard to know where to start follow the table from top to bottom and you will be reminded of the design of a tiered high tea. Starting with savoury sandwiches of smoked salmon and crème cheese, egg cress and organic chicken a pot of Earl Grey tea soon accompanied a plate of petit cakes including lemon mirange, raspberry delight and macaroons. To lighten the palate, fruit skewers dipped in Lindt chocolate provided the perfect prelude to freshly baked scones with jam and whipped cream.
