Phoenix Sweets operated their cake and dessert business in Hong Kong for over a decade. In the past three years, they moved their life and business to South Australia. Which is a bonus for Adelaide!
We were distracted as we walked in looking at the gorgeous desserts, teacups and maneki neko or the ‘lucky cat’ in a range of colours to purchase.
Phoenix Sweets has a very bright and lovely atmosphere. The vintage teacups and high tea stand always make a high tea that little bit extra special, which it was.
Phoenix Sweets uses local and fresh ingredients and is made onsite from scratch by Phoenix and her team. Everything was tasty and light on the High Tea Menu. There was just the right amount of food without feeling uncomfortable and overloaded.
The Basque Burnt Cheesecake was surprisingly not that sweet which was a pleasant change from sweet and sickly cheesecakes.
The Earl Grey scone was a new addition to the menu and had a pleasant flavour. I am an Earl Grey fan and happy for anything with this ingredient in it.
The Egg and Truffle Brioche was a modern take on the traditional egg salad sandwich. The Brioche was soft and fluffy. I could have eaten more of these as I do love Truffle.
Would recommend the High Tea at Phoenix Sweets. I will certainly bring a group back and buy some dessert to take home!
