Attending afternoon tea at the Four Seasons Hotel was on my to-do list in Bangkok as it was highly recommended by the High Tea Society community – I now know why.

The Lobby Lounge is spacious and oozes style, the result of the 2011 redesign. The soaring ceiling features an intricate Thai mural painted on to silk boards. Lobby lounge has a reputation of being the place to see-and-be-seen for Thai high society.

Once seated at our table the charming Pastry Chef Stephane Calvert came over to meet us and brought us each a mango sorbet. The table setting featured white linen napkins, a silver tea pot and fresh flowers.

The colourful buffet offered a wide range, my favourite was the salmon sandwich with bread that was baked in-house using coconut charcoal ash, which they tell me has detoxification properties. So here you go I found it – a high tea that’s actually good for you.

The macarons where fresh and full of flavour, the sort of macarons that melt in your mouth so quickly you want to have another. There’s even a coconut charcoal ash enhanced macaron to try. We were in no rush to leave and spent a long afternoon sipping tea and tasting all that was on offer.

If you visit during the week afternoon tea is served with a cake stand but on weekends as a buffet. I really enjoyed this afternoon tea, it was stylish and relaxed with wonderful service and a generous amount of delicious food.
