The InterContinental Adelaide is located on the picturesque Riverbank Precinct with lovely views of the River Torrens and Adelaide Oval. The high tea is set in the Riverside Restaurant, so you can soak up the views while feeling a bit luxurious.
The High Tea at the InterContinental Adelaide is seasonal and is changing all the time. The one we sampled was the Luxury High Tea. It was a mix between modern and traditional items including classic cucumber sandwiches and Lobster Po’ on a charcoal brioche.
The bottomless rosé sangria was a great start!
The hot savoury items were fresh and melt in your mouth. Spinach and cheese rolls are my absolute favourite, and it was good to see this on a high tea menu.
Slow roasted Wagyu beef, horseradish cream, pickled shallot and watercress was lovely with its freshness and mix of flavours.
The addition of walnuts to the scone was a nice touch and added good flavour. If walnuts are not your thing the traditional buttermilk scone was also served with local and delicious Beerenberg jam. I do love a bit of carrot cake, and this one was tasty with a slight spice.
Currently, the high teas on offer at the InterContinental Adelaide is for you or your Valentine. Items include (subject to availability) pumpkin arancini with basil and saffron aioli and the decadent red velvet cake. The Valentine’s High Tea is on offer until the 26th of March 2023.
The InterContinental Easter high tea will be coming up in the month of April. Items include (subject to availability) mac and cheese croquette with chipotle aioli and Hot Cross Scones!
