Whether you’re a guest of Lilianfels Resort and Spa or simply visiting for the day, indulge in a decadent Blue Mountains High Tea and let the experienced staff make you feel like royalty.
The history and grandeur of the Blue Mountains lends itself to an indulgent High Tea and what better location than the iconic Lilianfels Resort & Spa.
Lilianfels is a luxury resort located in the heart of the world heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park near famed Echo Point for the best views of the Three Sisters and an easy 90 minute drive from Sydney, making it the ideal day trip, mid-week escape or weekend getaway. The resort offers heritage inspired guest rooms, award winning dining at Darley’s restaurant, day spa, pool and tennis court as well as a lobby bar and lounge where high tea is served.
The Lounge Bar with it’s grand mahogany bar and affable waiters beckons from the lobby where you can sink into plush lounges and enjoy all day dining, drinks or high tea with not one but two cosy fireplaces to keep you warm in winter.
Midweek is an ideal time to visit the Blue Mountains and enjoy all the region has to offer without the crowds and be rewarded with a little discount on your high tea bill. We highly recommend upgrading you High Tea experience with a glass of Piper Heidsieck presented in the finest Reidel Champagne flutes and delivered by our charming host who murmured, “cheers to your good health.”
Lilianfels High Tea is served on a two-tier high tea stand and afternoon tea may be taken in either the lounge or the Orangery Restaurant, which would be ideal for larger groups or special occasions such as hen’s parties or a baby shower.
The Blue Mountains High Tea savoury selection includes a warm pumpkin soup with tempura prawns and a punchy and flavoursome Cajun spiced beef tart making for a delicious start. The chicken and pesto wrap was a modern touch and the egg sandwich simple yet delicious and a change from the traditional cucumber sandwich.
The selection of scones included a plain buttermilk as well as an almond and orange scone, their crunchiness the perfect compliment to the delicious gooiness of the jam. The sweet treats were garnished with flowers and berries dusted with gold glitter, providing a beautiful sense of occasion.
Guests may either enjoy a Vittoria Coffee or choose from a selection of La Maison Du Thé loose-leaf teas including English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Orange Pekoe, Price or Wales and more. I opted for the Lady Grey Tea described as a lighter alternative to Earl Grey and it was the perfect calming blend to truly sit back and relax the high tea experience.
Lilanfels chefs are able to cater to a variety of dietary requirements with prior notice such as vegetarian or gluten free at no extra cost. The hotel also offers special themed high teas for Easter and Mother’s Day as well as a Spring Blossom themed high tea during glorious springtime.
On our visit, there were guests dotted around the lounge engaged in amiable conversation, sipping tea or champagne and other couples indulging in high tea creating an overall refined and subdued ambience. Service was attentive and in keeping with a fine dining experience one expects from a five star hotel such as Lilianfels.
