The Queen of Adelaide High Tea

We jumped at the chance to review The Queen of Adelaide High Tea again. The second time around, it most certainly did not disappoint.

Owner Carolyn Hardlitschke’s attention to detail is again outstanding. The gorgeous pink glassware, the gold cutlery, the crown candles, the pretty tea cups. This is what High Tea is about. Classy, classic, and fancy.

The High Tea started with a glass of pretty, pink lemonade. I had a pot of Earl Grey tea from local tea company the T Bar.

The Earl Grey cupcake was so tasty. I am glad there is a growing trend in Earl Grey flavoured products. It is my favourite tea.

As soon as we took a bite of the tomato and cheese croissant, we knew it was baked from scratch, so fluffy and buttery. The Chicken mushroom filo was so delicious. Fresh and melt in your mouth.

The strawberry jelly cake or butterfly cake is still on the menu. We were glad it was! Fluffy, moist, and fresh.

The scones were traditional, just like your nanna used to make served with cloud like cream and fresh jam.

All items are freshly made. The staff were very attentive and provided excellent service. The Queen of Adelaide are based in the iconic Early Settler furniture shop on Grote Street.

Make sure you book the Queen of Adelaide High Tea. It is worth it to experience the taste and timeless elegance.

Angie McBride

Angie got her passion for high tea, in particular scones from her Nanna. She would stay at her house regularly and they would bake scones, pasties and cakes for hours. Angie’s scones are quite popular amongst her friends. She says they need to be traditionally made though – kneading the butter and making a well for the milk! Not cream and lemonade thank you! She is a self-confessed tea snob and loves a great quality tea. She says it’s lovely, soothing and there’s nothing like a pretty tea cup.
