voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley offers a deliciously elegant High Tea in the sun-filled conservatory overlooking the magnificent rose garden and Brokenback Ranges beyond.
The Hunter Valley is an ideal destination for an indulgent getaway or celebration and voco Kirkton Park offer a deliciously elegant High Tea filled with country charm and hospitality.
Kirkton Park has recently been reimagined by voco Hotels, updating the iconic Manor House and accommodation wings with modern touches, while still embracing chic country style. The Max Drayton and Reg Drayton wings were named to honour the hotel’s winemaking neighbours and the main house is an inviting space to drink and dine and settle in fireside at the luxurious Epoche Lounge Bar.
It’s in this main Manor House where High Tea is served, either in the sun-filled conservatory or on the verandah overlooking the impressive rose garden. The table is beautifully set with white linen and fresh flowers from the garden. The three-tiered High Tea stand is laden with goodies in addition to platter of savoury starters.
The savoury starters included a chef’s selection of hot canapés including mozzarella, shiitake and spinach arancini, caramelised onion tartlets with goat curd, spring rolls and mushroom and truffle tarts. The lower tier featured more savoury items including assorted sandwiches such as turkey and cranberry on rye and colourful mini brioche rolls with ham, cheese and tomato.
Save room for the scones, which was an absolute highlight. Generously proportioned warm lemonade scones served with pots of seasonal jam and vanilla bean cream so you can enjoy lashings of the good stuff.
Finally, the tier of petit cakes included a selection of mini muffins, macadamia and caramel tarts, chocolate mud cake, mini passionfruit cheesecake and macarons.
We had the pleasure of meeting Executive Chef Prabhat Prawin, who had just rejoined the IHG team after stints in Fiji at the Sheraton and Westin Resorts Denarau Fiji and international hotels in Darwin including Hilton and Holiday Inn. Chef Prawin plans to reinvigorate the High Tea menu with more items from the kitchen garden such as seasonal produce, rose, rosemary and honey harvested from voco’s very own beehives.
With prior notice, the voco chefs happily handle dietary requirements with ease, offering gluten free and dairy free options.
Tea and coffee is included in your High Tea experience and voco offer a selection of Dilmah teas including Brilliant Breakfast, Earl Grey and Green Tea and more plus Vittoria coffee if you prefer. Definitely opt for the upgrade to sparkling wine for just $10 per person to enjoy a drop of the Hunter Valley’s finest sparkling wine.
The highlight of High Tea at voco Kirkton Park was certainly the ambience and pretty setting with thoughtful touches such as the impressive floral table setting and caring service by Amanda and Tracey on our visit. We look forward to seeing the new menu with more homemade and local inclusions in the future.
High Tea at voco Hunter Valley is ideal for an afternoon of celebration with friends or loved ones in an elegant country setting at the iconic Kirkton Park homestead to create memorable moments.
