High Tea at the QT Gold Coast
High Tea at the QT Gold Coast

We had the QTea Standard High Tea, and it was delightful. Each savoury and sweet dish was presented with meticulousness. The items were fresh, creative and all made in house. The staff were welcoming and attentive.

The macaron absolutely messed with my mind. Traditionally a sweet treat, the one served at QT was savoury. The menu reads: Honey Roasted Pumpkin and Sage Macaron Local scenic rim pumpkin glazed with honey, whipped cream cheese, handpicked sage. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the sweet macarons, but this one was amazing. Such a creative and clever take on the flavours. It was my favourite item of the High Tea.

I do love Tempura Cauliflower and was happy to see this added to the menu. It was fresh, light, and moreish.

I am unable to pick my favourite sweet as there was so many standouts. Fresh, delicate, and interesting flavour combinations.

I always get a bit excited when I see Basil added to a sweet selection. It has a unique flavour profile for both savoury and sweet. The Strawberry and Basil Cheesecake with vanilla chiffon, strawberry glaze and fresh berries was delicious. Melt in your mouth and light.

The QT Ferrero Gianduja sabayon, salted caramel, chocolate peanut glaze was moist and full of flavour.

The Lemon scones were lovely and a nice flavour combination to the traditional humble scone.

The selection of teas was impressive; from crème brulee to white rose. It was nice to see a different selection to the traditional teas. A flavour selection which works for different palates. Make sure you also allow your budget to try the boozy iced teas. I tried the Gin Soirée, French earl grey iced tea, gin, vanilla, and lemon. Exceptionally light and refreshing. Drink responsibly.

QT Gold Coast have other High Teas on offer including the Little Q’Ties, Man T and Imaginator.

The items on the Man T look great for the ladies too. I have it on my list to try that one next time.

The Imaginator High Tea runs until the end of the year. It includes treats with a theatrical element including colour-changing iced tea. Make sure you try them all if you can!

Angie McBride

Angie got her passion for high tea, in particular scones from her Nanna. She would stay at her house regularly and they would bake scones, pasties and cakes for hours. Angie’s scones are quite popular amongst her friends. She says they need to be traditionally made though – kneading the butter and making a well for the milk! Not cream and lemonade thank you! She is a self-confessed tea snob and loves a great quality tea. She says it’s lovely, soothing and there’s nothing like a pretty tea cup.
