Afternoon Tea at The Langham, Gold Coast

The Langham on the Gold Coast has been open for over two years and emanates luxury. Their wonderful signature Ginger Flower scent wafts through the lobby as we walk in. Everything is sparkly, lush, and elegant.

The Langham London has been serving Afternoon Tea since 1865 and is bathed with folklore. The Afternoon Tea at The Langham, Gold Coast is served daily in the exquisite Palm Court. The meticulousness was outstanding, from the cutlery to the plates to the service.

The tea menu by Tavalon had a unique and delightful selection catering for various palettes from Jasmin Pearls to White Blueberry to Serenity.

The items on The Langham Afternoon Tea are soaked in tradition; made with perfection in house from fresh ingredients. The standout for me on the savoury items was the shaved cucumber, fennel cream cheese, xeres pickled shallots and puff pastry. It was refreshing and tasty at sat well with the warm climate of Surfers Paradise.

The dishes on the sweet element of the Afternoon Tea were perfect and smooth, like sculptures. There was not a lump or bump in sight. I am a fan of Earl Grey and very much enjoyed the Valrhona 70% dark chocolate slice with orange & Earl Grey entremet. It was delicate and moist with a great flavour combination.

The scones were soft and perfect. It was exceedingly difficult not to overdose on the lemon curd. Whipped with lemon; melted in your mouth.

I will not list how all the items tasted here as you really need to treat yourself and take in the elegant surrounds of The Langham Hotel on the Gold Coast.

Angie McBride

Angie got her passion for high tea, in particular scones from her Nanna. She would stay at her house regularly and they would bake scones, pasties and cakes for hours. Angie’s scones are quite popular amongst her friends. She says they need to be traditionally made though – kneading the butter and making a well for the milk! Not cream and lemonade thank you! She is a self-confessed tea snob and loves a great quality tea. She says it’s lovely, soothing and there’s nothing like a pretty tea cup.
