'Tis the season to be jolly - and the Sheraton Melbourne is bringing the festive cheer in droves this silly season with a Christmas High Tea that is sure to make you merry.

Pastry Chef Karoonen Permall has created a Christmas High Tea menu featuring all the elements of a traditional Christmas feast, including a delectable Jingle Berry Cocktail.

The Sheraton Melbourne has gained a reputation for creating delicious cocktails, with last year’s Chocolate High Tea showcasing a creamy Chocolate Martini. This year’s Jingle Berry Cocktail, made with Vanilla Vodka, Mozart Chocolate Cream, cranberry juice, strawberry jam and a little Christmas magic, has captured our attention in the current menu.

Served in the Sheraton’s spacious and bright Little Collins Street Kitchen, the table is set with white linen and a green floral tea set and the offering is served on a traditional three-tier high tea stand.

With a festive twist on the traditional menu, the savoury highlights include the fabulous Gruyère, thyme and French onion quiche, and a ham and cheese sandwich with honey mustard and spinach.

The sweet highlight was “The Ginger Man” spicy ginger and orange meringue tart and “The Snow Land”, an orange flourless cake with white chocolate mousse and blood orange jelly.

Once tea was served, we pause before tasting the scones. In keeping with the theme, the Christmas flavours of vanilla and rum and raisin scones are highlighted in two different types of scones, which are served with jam and cream. Unfortunately, we found the scones a bit dry.

Overall, this is a true festive celebration that is intricate in design and just delicious to taste and will be available for the month of December (except the 25th and 26th of December). With a price of $59 for weekdays and $65 on weekends, which includes the Jingle Berry Cocktail, this is a well-priced high tea experience that I’m sure you’ll enjoy.

Sheraton Melbourne recreates the high tea menu each season so keep a lookout for the next instalment.
