Looking for a high tea that combines shopping, indulgence and expansive views of Melbourne? Look no further. Located on level 12 of Hotel Chadstone, Altus rooftop bar exudes elegance and offers sweeping skyline views through its floor-to-ceiling windows.

A dramatic chandelier of wine glasses crowns the bar, setting the tone for a sophisticated afternoon. There’s a variety of seating options, including green velvet love seats for private tête-à-têtes, leather button-studded couches for larger groups and, for those seeking that view, tables for two lining the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Presented on an elegant custom gold three-tier stand, high tea at Altus features a curated selection of handcrafted savoury and sweet delights, including a premium selection of TWG Teas to sip and savour. An extensive beverage list of champagne, wine, cocktails, and mocktails is also available to complement your experience.

Starting with the savouries, and the salmon and crème fraiche finger sandwich, served on charcoal bread, is the clear pick of the bunch.

The Victorian black angus pinwheel also delivers, with tangy balsamic pomegranate pearls tying the flavours together beautifully, while the chicken and saltbush empanada brings a pleasant kick of spice, with the accompanying chutney a perfect addition.

But desserts are where the Altus High Tea really shines. The dark chocolate mousse ball is a standout, while the blood orange, cardamom and saffron parfait is as playful as it is delicious, with the tart blood orange element cleverly shaped to look like the fruit itself.

Those who love bright, zesty flavours will also appreciate the green apple, yuzu and ginger crémeux.

No high tea would be complete without scones, and alongside the classic buttermilk scone there is also a sweet orange with chocolate alternative – and a delicious alternative, at that.

Altus at Hotel Chadstone is the perfect place to spend a delightful afternoon after a busy morning shopping at Chadstone (because it would be rude not to).
